SUMMARY:Giving Freely of Ourselves and What We All Gain
DESCRIPTION:Elsah\, Illinois\nEveryone is welcome. \nGiving Freely of Ourselves and What We All Gain\nwith Melanie Walhberg\nWhen we feel overwhelmed by life’s problems\, we may want to hide or give up. But when we do the opposite — give more of ourselves or focus on the God-given qualities we already have\, we find that those problems dissolve! Hear this Christian Science healer share her own experiences of progress — and how you can gain the joy\, health\, and strength that move our lives and the world forward. \n______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nAbout Melanie Walhberg \n \n\nTwo influences that Melanie will never forget were the Christian Science Sunday School and a mom who turned to prayer and encouraged her to do the same. These influences showed her something of the reliability of God and spiritual inspiration\, and trusting this helped her find her way growing up. Significant healing experiences with relationship and food issues\, and violence in the community\, were also unforgettable. From this\, Melanie got an idea of the many ways that Christian Science can transform lives. \nAfter finishing a doctorate in mathematics\, Melanie became a college professor and truly enjoyed teaching. She found that teaching was less about telling students something than facilitating the students’ discoveries of new concepts. There was nothing better than witnessing a reluctant student realize that a previously mystifying concept was actually within reach to anyone. \nBut the higher promise of Christian Science beckoned her to help people redeem and uplift their lives in a fuller way. When students came to her office for help with calculus\, Melanie and her students often found themselves talking about the joy and excitement of growing spirituality. After just two years at the college\, Melanie resigned from her position and began accepting calls as a Christian Science practitioner. She wrote articles for the Christian Science periodicals\, was a frequent guest on Sentinel radio\, and began advertising her practice in The Christian Science Journal in 2004. She and her husband also started a family. \nMelanie loves working from her home office in the Los Angeles area. She likes to see lives transformed by the healing ideas of Christian Science\, where we ourselves are helped and\, at the same time\, find we can help others. Her life as a mom has a lot of the same focus. And whether the spiritual ideas apply to health issues\, school\, social lives\, or sports\, her three kids push her to “keep it real.” \n\n______________________________________________________________________ \nMelanie Walhberg will give her talk at\nPrincipia Wanamaker Hall\, Elsah\n1 Maybeck Place\, Elsah\, IL\nEveryone is welcome.\nChildcare will be not be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Can Prayer be Scientific?
DESCRIPTION:Kirkwood\nChild care provided \nCan Prayer be Scientific?\nwith Emra Farkas\nThe Science of Christianity challenges conventional views of prayer\, presenting it not as blind faith\, but as a scientific understanding of God’s ever-present love. Drawing from Jesus’ teachings in the Bible\, as well as personal experiences practicing Christian Science\, Emra illustrates how prayer can bring tangible healing and transformation. Prayer\, combined with a law-based approach to spirituality\, can be both practical and provable. \n______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nAbout Emra Farkas \nThe most important influences on Emra’s life were her mother\, who taught her to pray when confronted with difficulties\, and her Christian Science Sunday School. In her teens\, when a teacher asked her to speak to a social studies class about her religion\, she found the joy that comes from sharing what she understood and had experienced of Mary Baker Eddy’s discovery. She was asked back each year and was always moved by the way students who were skeptical about the subject became interested after hearing her accounts of spiritual healing–her healings of a severed thumb\, tonsilitis\, swimmer’s ear\, bullying\, and other difficulties. \nHowever\, during college and graduate school she drifted away from church. Her degrees were in Fine Arts and after school she worked for galleries and museums in New York City. Her interest in finding spiritual answers to life’s challenges was rekindled\, and she explored a variety of spiritual disciplines in search of answers. This hands-on study of comparative religion helped her understand the universality of the search for spiritual truth but left her with unanswered questions. \nShe and her husband moved to Taos\, New Mexico\, where she enjoyed a career in music performance and started a family. After some years of poor health\, a sudden spiritual insight led her back to Christian Science and an instantaneous healing of multiple chronic illnesses. This inspired a deeper study of Eddy’s writings which then led to returning to church\, taking Christian Science class instruction (a two-week intensive course of study) and shortly after\, becoming a full-time Christian Science practitioner.  She says there is nothing more satisfying than seeing divine Truth and Love transform lives and bring healing. She feels deeply blessed to practice and teach Christian Science\, contribute to the Christian Science periodicals\, serve her branch church\, and serve as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. \n______________________________________________________________________ \nEmra Farkas will give her talk at\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Kirkwood\n415 N Clay Avenue\, Kirkwood MO 63122\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Moving past fear -- to healing
DESCRIPTION:Central West End\nChild care provided\n\nMoving past fear – to healing\n\n  \nBy discovering the strong connection and relationship we have to something bigger than ourselves — God\, good\, we can learn to lean and rely on this greater\, higher good. This can move us to love beyond ourselves — and we are freed from fear and so much more. \n\nAbout Lisa Troseth\n\nLisa was in her late teens when God became more real to her as an infinitely loving presence. At the time\, she was struggling with tough relationship problems\, so she was wide open to seeking divine answers. She began to earnestly study Christian Science\, which she knew transformed lives because it had healed her mom of a bipolar disorder diagnosed as incurable. \n\n“As I really prayed and studied the Bible and Science and Health\, they awakened me to a larger view of life as being forever inseparable from divine Love. This freed me from the relationship issues\, healed me of a skin condition\, and changed my character for the better.”\n\nYearning to share God’s healing nature more with others\, Lisa took Christian Science Primary Class Instruction in 1994\, where she learned how prayer\, based on our unity with God\, consistently heals and brings solutions to our lives\, communities\, and world. Proving this has been at the heart of her life’s work\, whether serving in educational nonprofits\, working as a Christian Science nurse\, or serving in various church capacities\, including currently as a Christian Science lecturer. Lisa was an art major in college\, and has enjoyed living in many places throughout the United States. One of her favorite activities nowadays is hiking with her husband in the mountains of Northwest Arkansas. She has loved being in the full-time ministry of Christian Science healing since 2010\, and now as a 2021 graduate of Normal class. \n“It’s a joy to share the Science of Christ-healing through teaching.”\n\n\nLisa Troseth will give her talk at First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, St. Louis\, MO\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: What Really Matters
DESCRIPTION:Forest Park\nChild care provided \nWhat Really Matters\nwith Nicole Virgil\n______________________________________________________________________ \nEveryone is invited to a free talk on Christian Science: What Really Matters\, presented by Nicole Virgil. Discovering our capacity to sort reality from unreality\, what matters from what doesn’t\, can bring healing\, clarity\, and freedom. \nAbout Nicole Virgil \nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. Her mom had been on a years-long search to find out how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for. As a result\, Nicole was raised in Christian Science\, and developed a deep desire for an intimate relationship with God. \nNicole studied Christian Science with her mom and music with her dad\, and found that each discipline complemented the other. Christian Science healed performance anxiety\, while learning music honed the skills she needed for spiritual practice — skills such as intuition\, listening\, patience and diligence. Throughout her life\, Christian Science and music have always overlapped: after studying opera at music school\, she took her one-woman opera review program (That Can’t Be Opera!) on the road\, educating audiences about opera by singing Mozart\, Puccini\, and Menotti. Christian Science guided her through this entrepreneurial endeavor\, just as it led her to start soloing in churches as a teenager (which is something she still loves to do!) — Nicole eventually married\, started a family with her husband\, and entered the public practice of Christian Science. \nToday Nicole enjoys raising children\, gardening\, soloing in church\, and witnessing the healing effect of Christian Science. \n______________________________________________________________________ \nNicole Virgil will give her talk at\nEighth Church of Christ\, Scientist – St. Louis\, Forest Park\n6221 Alexander Drive\, St. Louis\, MO 63105\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Learning to Love Your Enemies
DESCRIPTION:Central West End\nChild care provided\n\nLearning to Love Your Enemies\nwith Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n\n\n\nLoving your enemies can sometimes feel impossible. Christian Science proves that learning to love your enemies is not only possible\, but natural. The study of this divine Science leads to following Christ Jesus command to “love your enemies.” This replaces anger\, hurt\, and injustice with forgiveness\, freedom\, and peace. \n\n\n  \nAbout\nGiulia Nesi Tetreau\n\n“I’ve always loved people—their life stories\, their struggles\, their successes.  I regularly meet individuals actively cultivating their spiritual life.  And I love sharing Science and Health with them! \nI see much of my own journey in these seekers.  A few years into my career in the mental health field\, despite having achieved professional success\, I felt empty inside.  I had everything I’d been taught would make me happy but instead was dissatisfied and restless\, yearning for something deeper.  That’s when I was introduced to Christian Science through Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by religious reformer\, Mary Baker Eddy.  In it\, I found a shared sacred space with the author and experienced a profound sense of coming home. \nSome years later\, I was compelled to leave my psychotherapy practice to focus completely on my Christian Science healing practice.  It was an imperative demand from within me—I had to be true to myself. “His word is in my heart like a fire…I am weary of holding it in.”* I needed to practice in the way I understood would be most helpful. \nSince then\, sharing the revolutionary message contained in the pages of Science and Health has been the cornerstone of my life.  I helped oversee the worldwide activity of bringing the book to a wider public audience.  I also managed a special project established to respond to the growing interest from healthcare professionals in learning more about Christian Science. I’ve lectured to the public in a variety of settings and venues\, from prisons to professional healthcare audiences and everything in between. I love all of it! \nWhat a special opportunity Christian Science lectures provide for opening the way for the spiritual seeker in all of us to learn\, grow\, and heal.  I welcome all inquiries!” \n\nGiulia Nesi Tetreau will give her talk at\nSchlafly Library\n225 N Euclid Ave St Louis MO 63108\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Finding Where God Is Seen and Felt — What’s Church Got To Do with It?
DESCRIPTION:Godfrey\nChild care provided\nFinding Where God Is Seen and Felt — What’s Church Got To Do with It?\nFinding where God is seen and felt.\nWhat’s church got to do with it?\n(Maybe church is more than a building.) \nHave you ever thought about God as goodness? And God’s creation\, including you and everyone else\, as a natural extension of that goodness? \nThere is a direct connection between this foundational way of viewing the world and the idea of church. This lecture discusses the role of church — not just as a building or place\, but as a new kind of thinking that reveals God’s goodness for you and everyone around you. \nWe invite you to join us for this free healing talk with Caryl Emra Farkas\, a Christian Science teacher and practitioner. \nAbout Caryl Emra Farkas\, CSB\n\nThe most important influences on Emra’s life were her mother\, who taught her to pray when confronted with difficulties\, and her Christian Science Sunday School. \n\nCaryl Emra Farkas will give her talk at\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Alton-Godfrey\n1430 W Delmar Ave\, Godfrey\, IL 62035\n\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

DESCRIPTION:Rockwood/Parkway\nChild care provided\nFinding Where God Is Seen and Felt — What’s Church Got To Do with It?\nFinding where God is seen and felt.\nWhat’s church got to do with it?\n(Maybe church is more than a building.) \nHave you ever thought about God as goodness? The book of Psalms (107:8) encourages us to “praise God for his goodness\,” and this free talk\, by Caryl Emra Farkas\, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher\, does just that. It’s about the way church — not as an address on Google Maps\, but as a foundational trust in God’s complete goodness — brings healing and blessing in our lives. \nEmra will speak about her own journey home to this understanding of church after being one of the “nones” [religiously unaffiliated] when it came to church for many years. SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Be Set Free
DESCRIPTION:Jerseyville\, IL\nChild care provided\n\nBe Set Free\nwith Nicole Virgil\n\n\n\nIn this talk\, we will explore Biblical perspectives on freedom and hear real-life examples of people breaking free from physical\, emotional\, and situational struggles. Life often feels full of obstacles that limit our freedom\, but the real challenge is not the barriers themselves. It is not knowing where to find our God-given liberty. True freedom is not just about circumstances changing. It is about discovering the spiritual\, unburdened\, and purposeful liberty that already belongs to us\, proving that true liberty comes from understanding God as its source. \n\n\n  \nAbout Nicole Virgil\n\nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. \n\nNicole Virgil will give her talk at\nLyon Park Feyerabend Building\n201 E. Spruce Street\, Jerseyville\, IL 62052\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: The Quest to Experience GOD
DESCRIPTION:St. Charles/Overland\nChild care provided\n\nThe Quest to Experience GOD\nwith Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I didn’t just want to know about God. I wanted to experience God.”\n\n\n\n\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, St. Charles warmly invites you to join us in thinking about a “spiritual revolution.” Giulia Nesi Tetreau\, CSB will be talking about “The Quest to Experience God.” Whether this is your first time visiting a Christian Science lecture or you’re a familiar friend\, we want you to feel warmly welcomed and embraced by God’s love! \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n\n \nI always knew my career path was going to involve being of service to others\, but had no idea it would be as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science! My work in rural Appalachia during high school touched me so deeply I went on to get both an undergraduate and graduate degree in social work. I then worked for over 10 years as a psychotherapist in a variety of mental health settings. Though my career was going well\, I began feeling an increasing sense of dissatisfaction and restlessness. \nI realize now I was searching–earnestly seeking a deeper meaning and purpose for my life. The feeling that there had to be something more and that God had to be in the answer\, propelled me into a journey of spiritual exploration that was absolutely life-transforming. After looking into many different spiritual practices\, I was introduced to the teachings of Christian Science and began reading Mary Baker Eddy’s book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. While reading it\, I found a “shared sacred space” with the author and experienced such a profound sense of “coming home” that I knew nothing was going to be the same. It wasn’t long before I realized that for me\, praying for others and helping them come to know themselves as the “loved of Love” was the highest sense of my life purpose. I eventually left the mental health field to hang out my shingle as a practitioner\, and then teacher\, and have never looked back! \n\nGiulia Nesi Tetreau will give her talk at\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, St. Charles\n1875 South 5th Street\nSt Charles\, MO  63303\nFree Parking is available.\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: The Joy of Beginning with God
DESCRIPTION:Chesterfield YMCA\nChild care provided\n\nThe Joy of Beginning with God\n\nwith Mark McCurties\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA better understanding that God is all-good — and of the good God is causing — helps you experience more of that goodness: health\, peace\, safety\, and joy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this lecture\, you’ll learn more about causation from a spiritual point of view. In other words\, what is God causing? What kind of effects does God’s causative power produce? The Bible promises that God is causing only good. So this lecture will explore how a better understanding of the good that God forever causes can help us to experience more of that goodness in the form of health\, peace\, and safety for our world. \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n  \nAbout Mark McCurties\n\nEver since he was a little boy\, Mark had a deep love for the Bible. When he read about men and women in the Bible overcoming hatred\, famine\, war\, physical disease\, and other hardships\, their triumphs inspired him. It didn’t matter what the odds were\, or what conditions they faced\, individuals in the Bible seemed to flourish in adversity based on one common theme: their deep love for God. \nGrowing up in a Christian Science household\, there was another book that Mark loved to read daily: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures written by Mary Baker Eddy. The very purpose of her book is to help unlock and reveal the deeper divine meaning and inspiration of the Bible. Together the Bible and Science and Health point to the practical healing and saving power of God and its present availability for all mankind. Mark knew that someday he wanted to share that healing message with the world. \nAs he grew into adulthood\, experiences in the field of education as a summer camp director\, outdoor educator\, athletics coach\, and resident counselor all helped to develop his understanding and practice of Christian Science. While working with young people\, Mark had multiple opportunities to witness God’s healing power. These examples proved to him that the healing power of the Christ is just as alive and relevant today as for the men and women of the Bible. In 2010\, with a desire to focus solely on healing through prayer\, Mark entered the full-time public practice of Christian Science. \n\nMark McCurties will give his talk at\nThe Chesterfield YMCA\n16464 Burkhardt Place\nChesterfield\, MO 63017\nFree Parking is available.\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:A Talk for Teens: Why Everyone is Needed
DESCRIPTION:At Principia School\nin the Idea Center\nA Talk for Teens: Why Everyone is Needed\nwith James Shepherd\n \nWhat’s My Purpose?\nThis teen-focused talk explores what your purpose is and where your worth comes from. \nJames Shepherd shares real-life examples and explains how\, when you see yourself as God does\, healing and personal progress results. As James puts it: \n  \n\n“Each one of us is connected to God. No one is left out.”\n\n\n  \nAbout James Shepherd\nGod’s love is for everyone\, and a Christian Science talk especially for Teens is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings. \n\nJames has seen the healing effects of God’s love since he was a youngster\, romping through the woods around his home with his three brothers. They had their share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. On the rare occasions they felt sick\, they relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school his family moved to a ranch where they had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way he could serve others. He left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. Thirty years later\, he still loves this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, James has enjoyed being active in many roles in his local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and has worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. He has also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When his four children were little\, he coached their sports programs. He finds other ways to help his community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nJames loves spending time with his family and doing any outdoor activity. But his greatest joy will always be to find\, and to help others find\, a more tangible sense of God’s love for everyone and how that improves every aspect of our lives.” \n\nJames Shepherd will give his talk for Teens at\nPrincipia School in the Idea Center\n13201 Clayton Rd.\nSt. Louis\, MO 63131\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Creve Coeur\, MO

DESCRIPTION:Kirkwood\nChild care provided\n\nThe Science of God and its Power to Heal Us\nwith Nikki O’Hagan\nNikki will show how the Science of God explains Jesus’ healings\, and teachings\, makes God knowable and understandable\, and provides humanity with a safe and reliable means for caring for ourselves and each other. \n \n\n  \n\n\nNikki grew up in South Africa where she gained a love for being outdoors and enjoying the beauty and promise of nature. From a young age she had a strong desire to not just experience life\, but to understand it. She used to exasperate her dad by following up every explanation he gave her by asking “but\, Why?” While Nikki did grow up attending Christian Science Sunday School\, as a teen she decided that this would not be the way for her to gain the understanding of life that she was seeking\, and she headed off in another direction. \nSeveral years followed in which she desperately tried to find happiness and to understand the Why of life. She looked everywhere and tried everything (even jumping out of an airplane!) but nothing brought answers\, happiness or lasting peace. Rather than finding an understanding of life\, it all seemed to just get darker and make less and less sense. \nAnd then a transformational healing brought her back to Christian Science\, where she found comfort\, peace\, mercy\, happiness\, harmony\, health\, and home in the arms of divine Love. Nikki then discovered that she loved the infallible logic of the Science of Christianity\, and found in it all the answers to her Whys. Life and God finally began to make sense and became full of joy\, light\, and love. Her gratitude for this pivotal healing\, and the salvation it brought her by setting her on the path of Christian Science\, was–and still is–unbounded. Since that time all she has wanted to do is love and serve God\, and love and serve others. \nThrough her study and practice of Christian Science\, Nikki has experienced and witnessed so many healings over the years. Her earnest desire is for all to know the transformational healing power of divine Love. Becoming a Christian Science practitioner was a natural step in fulfilling this desire. \nNikki looks forward to sharing with others\, through the lecturing work\, the subjects most precious and dear to her heart: God and Christian Science. \n\n\n  \n\nNikki O’Hagan I will give her talk at\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Kirkwood\n415 N Clay Ave.\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, St. Louis\, MO

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: The Joy of Beginning with God
DESCRIPTION:Forest Park\nChild care provided\n\nThe Joy of Beginning with God\n\nwith Mark McCurties\n\n\n\nIn this lecture Mark McCurties will talk about causation from a spiritual point of view. In other words\, what is God causing? What kind of effects does God’s causative power produce? The Bible promises that God is causing only good. So this lecture will explore how a better understanding of the good that God forever causes can help us to experience more of that goodness in the form of health\, peace\, and safety for our world. \n  \n\n\n\n  \nAbout Mark McCurties\n\nEver since he was a little boy\, Mark had a deep love for the Bible. \n\nMark McCurties will give his talk at Eighth Church of Christ\, Scientist \, St. Louis\, MO 63105\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Never Alone - How Spiritual Ideas Work In Us
DESCRIPTION:St. Louis\nChild care provided\n\nNever Alone – How Spiritual Ideas Work In Us\nwith Melanie Wahlberg\nCome and hear how ideas from God companion us\, bless us\, heal us and feel like home. They transform and impel our lives forward.  Join us at the New City School for an hour of great inspiration with Christian Science Practitioner and Speaker\, Melanie Wahlberg. \nSimple ideas\, about God’s nature and about our nature as expressions of God\, stir something new in our consciousness. They work in us in ways that change our lives and our health for the better … \n\n… But how do we find these healing ideas consistently?  We’ll look at the teachings of Christ Jesus\, our best and most practical example. And I’ll share how this approach has transformed lives\, including a mother and her infant daughter who each experienced healing. With ideas from God working on our behalf this way\, we discover that we’re never truly alone.  ~Melanie Wahlberg \nAbout Melanie Wahlberg\n\n \n\nTwo influences that Melanie will never forget were the Christian Science Sunday School and a mom who turned to prayer and encouraged her to do the same. And whether the spiritual ideas apply to health issues\, school\, social lives\, or sports\, her three kids push her to “keep it real.” \n\n\nMelanie Wahlberg will give her talk at\nNew City School\n5209 Waterman Boulevard – Entrance on Lake Avenue\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, St. Louis\, MO

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Be Set Free
DESCRIPTION:West County\nChild care provided\n\nBe Set Free\n\n\n\nCircumstances often present what appear to be significant obstacles to living freely\, something that everyone wants to do. Whatever it is that seems to stand between us and the full range of motion that we would like to have in our lives\, it’s not so much the impediment that is the problem — it’s not knowing how or where to access our God-given liberty. \nTo live a life of liberty\, we have to find the nature and substance of liberty\, which is spiritual\, purposeful\, unburdened\, and given to all. To do that you have to know where to look\, to the source of liberty — God\, good itself\, all-inclusive. \nIn this talk\, we will examine liberty from a Biblical perspective; and see how real people today find their freedom from all kinds of physical\, emotional and circumstantial restrictions that seem clearly beyond their control so that they may Be Set Free. \n\n\n  \nAbout Nicole Virgil\n\nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. \n\nNicole Virgil will give her talk at\nThe Conference Building at\nSchroeder Park\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Valley Park\, MO

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Discover how prayer HEALS
DESCRIPTION:Wash U / Delmar\nChild care provided\n\nCome to a free talk on spiritual healing by Christian Science practitioner and international speaker Nate Frederick and … \nDiscover how prayer HEALS\nIf you have no experience with spirituality or religion\, or you’re not even sure what you think about God\, can you still pray and be healed? \nOur speaker\,  Nate Frederick\,  says  …\n\n“Yes. Because prayer and healing are natural to us\, and I say this as one who didn’t even grow up in a religious household. But what I’ve discovered as I’ve studied Christian Science is that a willingness to shift perspectives\, to see things in a new\, more spiritual way\, has an effect–for anyone.”\n\nhttps://youtu.be/gM1hRyhrcvA \nNate continues …\n\nBut what I’ve discovered as I’ve studied Christian Science is that a willingness to shift perspectives\, to see things in a new\, more spiritual way\, has an effect—for anyone.\nLike in the case of an inmate I worked with. As I shared the basics of Christian Science with him\, he said it all sounded great but he was just a bad person. He seemed pretty convinced that healing wasn’t for him. But as we talked about the fact that he wasn’t defined by his past\, but by God\, his source\, who is completely good\, I could tell his thought about himself was changing. \nAnd then he wanted more. So he took a copy of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, back to his cell and started to dive into these books. Six or seven weeks later\, I ran into him again and he told me that he’d been healed of a serious illness —just from studying the Bible and Science and Health. His study helped him grasp God and his life in a new way and his disease was cured. \nIn my lecture\, I’ll share more about the fundamentals of effective prayer\, as I’ve learned from studying Christian Science\, as well as how healing is truly possible for everyone. \nAbout Nate Frederick\n \nNate is a practitioner of Christian Science healing and in his talk\, he will share more about the fundamentals of effective prayer\, as he has learned from studying Christian Science\, as well as how healing is truly possible for everyone. \nExperiencing first-hand the healing power of Love is Nate Frederick’s favorite thing.  It’s what makes him tick. Nate studied perennial religion at Hampshire College where he was introduced to Christian Science healing.  Although he was enamored with the academic exploration of spirituality\, what he truly desired most was to practice spirituality in a tangible way — he wanted to experience God and heal others. \nAfter traveling and hiking extensively in the Himalayas\, Nate came to Boston in 2008 to work for the headquarters of the Christian Science church\, in Boston.  Since then\, he has served in many capacities\, including launching and producing spiritual and musical podcasts. Nate has shared the Christian Science at jails\, rehab centers and interfaith events.  He’s also been widely involved in composing\, producing and performing music. \nTo sum it all up\, Nate affirms:\n\n“Without comparison\, my greatest love\, my greatest joy— my mission — is to transform lives and heal the sick through Christianly Scientific prayer.”\n\n\nNate Frederick will give his talk at\nUniversity City Public Library\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Creve Couer\, MO

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Breaking news: Freedom is ours now
DESCRIPTION:Elsah\, IL\nChild care provided\n\nBreaking news: Freedom is ours now\n\n\n\nThe little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go\, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward\, off he flew. Free! \nWhat is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news\, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes\, today! \n\nJoin us for a lively hour\, learning about our freedom from discords of every kind.\n\n\n\n\n\nMy lecture traces the origins of this good news to Christ Jesus’ ministry\, and then explores how the discovery of a 19th-century woman named Mary Baker Eddy—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today. What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that uplifts our thoughts\, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint\, and heals. \nAnd it lifts all of us\, and can heal all of us. I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life\, rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter\, and freeing me from the effects of an accident\, as well as examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life. The common thread through these experiences is the way a clearer view of the reality of our God-given wholeness also releases us from burdens in our lives and causes us to soar. Free! \n\n\n\nAbout Patricia Cohan Woodard\n\nPatty discovered Christian Science as an adolescent and soon thereafter experienced the complete healing of a broken arm through Christian Science treatment\, to the amazement of her mother\, a registered nurse. \nAfter working in New York City in the fashion business\, Patty realized she wanted to help children learn how to learn. So she returned to school and earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching. This desire to help others and her love of Christian Science impelled her to set time aside to pray for others. While a mother of two children\, she became a full-time Christian Science practitioner\, and has pursued a lifelong career of learning about God\, sharing Truth\, and witnessing God’s love for mankind. \nPatty has lived in six states in the U.S. and twice in São Paulo\, Brazil\, where she became fluent in Portuguese. Each new culture and environment has taught her more about God\, universal Love\, and how God’s goodness is reflected by all people. These new views have opened up wonderful opportunities to interact with people from a wide variety of cultural and economic backgrounds\, faiths\, and age groups. In Brazil\, Patty helped start up an award-winning social program that taught mothers living in a favela (slum) how to make beautiful handmade quilts for resale\, the income from which put shoes on their childrens’ feet and gave these women a new sense of self-worth. \nUnderlying all of her experiences is the desire to bring healing to mankind\, to show each individual their God-given freedom\, their real heritage\, their right to happiness and health\, and their inherent ability to feel God’s love. \nToday\, Patty resides in Dallas\, Texas\, where she nurtures her healing practice as well as an active prison ministry. While serving on the Board of Lectureship\, she has given lectures at food pantries\, museums\, libraries\, community centers\, churches\, as well as at local\, state\, and federal prisons. \n\nPatricia Cohan Woodard will give her talk at Farley’s Music Hall\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

\n\nMark McCurties will give his talk at Post Commons in Alton\, IL\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Be Set Free
DESCRIPTION:Clarkson Valley\nChild care provided\n\nBe Set Free\n\n\n\nCircumstances often present what appear to be significant obstacles to living freely\, something that everyone wants to do. \n\nNicole Virgil will give her talk at First Church of Christ Scientist\, Clarkson Valley.\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.
