SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Be Set Free
DESCRIPTION:Jerseyville\, IL\nChild care provided\n\nBe Set Free\nwith Nicole Virgil\n\n\n\nIn this talk\, we will explore Biblical perspectives on freedom and hear real-life examples of people breaking free from physical\, emotional\, and situational struggles. Life often feels full of obstacles that limit our freedom\, but the real challenge is not the barriers themselves. It is not knowing where to find our God-given liberty. True freedom is not just about circumstances changing. It is about discovering the spiritual\, unburdened\, and purposeful liberty that already belongs to us\, proving that true liberty comes from understanding God as its source. \n\n\n  \nAbout Nicole Virgil\n\nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. Her mom had been on a years-long search to find out how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for. As a result\, Nicole was raised in Christian Science\, and developed a deep desire for an intimate relationship with God. \nNicole studied Christian Science with her mom and music with her dad\, and found that each discipline complemented the other. Christian Science healed performance anxiety\, while learning music honed the skills she needed for spiritual practice — skills such as intuition\, listening\, patience and diligence. Throughout her life\, Christian Science and music have always overlapped: after studying opera at music school\, she took her one-woman opera review program (That Can’t Be Opera!) on the road\, educating audiences about opera by singing Mozart\, Puccini\, and Menotti. Christian Science guided her through this entrepreneurial endeavor\, just as it led her to start soloing in churches as a teenager (which is something she still loves to do!) — Nicole eventually married\, started a family with her husband\, and entered the public practice of Christian Science. \nToday Nicole enjoys raising children\, gardening\, soloing in church\, and witnessing the healing effect of Christian Science. \n\nNicole Virgil will give her talk at\nLyon Park Feyerabend Building\n201 E. Spruce Street\, Jerseyville\, IL 62052\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Finding Where God Is Seen and Felt — What’s Church Got To Do with It?
DESCRIPTION:Rockwood/Parkway\nChild care provided\nFinding Where God Is Seen and Felt — What’s Church Got To Do with It?\nFinding where God is seen and felt.\nWhat’s church got to do with it?\n(Maybe church is more than a building.) \nHave you ever thought about God as goodness? And God’s creation\, including you and everyone else\, as a natural extension of that goodness? The book of Psalms (107:8) encourages us to “praise God for his goodness\,” and this free talk\, by Caryl Emra Farkas\, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher\, does just that. It’s about the way church — not as an address on Google Maps\, but as a foundational trust in God’s complete goodness — brings healing and blessing in our lives. \nEmra will speak about her own journey home to this understanding of church after being one of the “nones” [religiously unaffiliated] when it came to church for many years. We invite you to join us for this talk. \nAbout Caryl Emra Farkas\, CSB\n\nThe most important influences on Emra’s life were her mother\, who taught her to pray when confronted with difficulties\, and her Christian Science Sunday School. In her teens\, when a teacher asked her to speak to a social studies class about her religion\, she found the joy that comes from sharing what she understood and had experienced of Mary Baker Eddy’s discovery. She was asked back each year and was always moved by the way students who were skeptical about the subject became interested after hearing her accounts of spiritual healing–her healings of a severed thumb\, tonsilitis\, swimmer’s ear\, bullying\, and other difficulties. \nHowever\, during college and graduate school she drifted away from church. Her degrees were in Fine Arts and after school she worked for galleries and museums in New York City. Her interest in finding spiritual answers to life’s challenges was rekindled\, and she explored a variety of spiritual disciplines in search of answers. This hands-on study of comparative religion helped her understand the universality of the search for spiritual truth but left her with unanswered questions. \nShe and her husband moved to Taos\, New Mexico\, where she enjoyed a career in music performance and started a family. After some years of poor health\, a sudden spiritual insight led her back to Christian Science and an instantaneous healing of multiple chronic illnesses. This inspired a deeper study of Eddy’s writings which then led to returning to church\, taking Christian Science class instruction (a two-week intensive course of study) and shortly after\, becoming a full-time Christian Science practitioner.  She says there is nothing more satisfying than seeing divine Truth and Love transform lives and bring healing. She feels deeply blessed to practice and teach Christian Science\, contribute to the Christian Science periodicals\, serve her branch church\, and serve as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. \n\nCaryl Emra Farkas will give her talk at\nFirst Church Christ\, Scientist\, Valley Park\n41 Main St\, Valley Park\, MO 63088\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Learning to Love Your Enemies
DESCRIPTION:Central West End\nChild care provided\n\nLearning to Love Your Enemies\nwith Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n\n\n\nLoving your enemies can sometimes feel impossible. Christian Science proves that learning to love your enemies is not only possible\, but natural. The study of this divine Science leads to following Christ Jesus command to “love your enemies.” This replaces anger\, hurt\, and injustice with forgiveness\, freedom\, and peace. \n\n\n  \nAbout\nGiulia Nesi Tetreau\n\n“I’ve always loved people—their life stories\, their struggles\, their successes.  I regularly meet individuals actively cultivating their spiritual life.  And I love sharing Science and Health with them! \nI see much of my own journey in these seekers.  A few years into my career in the mental health field\, despite having achieved professional success\, I felt empty inside.  I had everything I’d been taught would make me happy but instead was dissatisfied and restless\, yearning for something deeper.  That’s when I was introduced to Christian Science through Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by religious reformer\, Mary Baker Eddy.  In it\, I found a shared sacred space with the author and experienced a profound sense of coming home. \nSome years later\, I was compelled to leave my psychotherapy practice to focus completely on my Christian Science healing practice.  It was an imperative demand from within me—I had to be true to myself. “His word is in my heart like a fire…I am weary of holding it in.”* I needed to practice in the way I understood would be most helpful. \nSince then\, sharing the revolutionary message contained in the pages of Science and Health has been the cornerstone of my life.  I helped oversee the worldwide activity of bringing the book to a wider public audience.  I also managed a special project established to respond to the growing interest from healthcare professionals in learning more about Christian Science. I’ve lectured to the public in a variety of settings and venues\, from prisons to professional healthcare audiences and everything in between. I love all of it! \nWhat a special opportunity Christian Science lectures provide for opening the way for the spiritual seeker in all of us to learn\, grow\, and heal.  I welcome all inquiries!” \n\nGiulia Nesi Tetreau will give her talk at\nSchlafly Library\n225 N Euclid Ave St Louis MO 63108\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: What Really Matters
DESCRIPTION:Forest Park\nChild care provided \nWhat Really Matters\nwith Nicole Virgil\n______________________________________________________________________ \nEveryone is invited to a free talk on Christian Science: What Really Matters\, presented by Nicole Virgil. Discovering our capacity to sort reality from unreality\, what matters from what doesn’t\, can bring healing\, clarity\, and freedom. \nAbout Nicole Virgil \nNicole’s father was a free-lance church organist\, and her parents attended services at many different Christian churches in New England. \n______________________________________________________________________ \nNicole Virgil will give her talk at\nEighth Church of Christ\, Scientist – St. Louis\, Forest Park\n6221 Alexander Drive\, St. Louis\, MO 63105\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Moving past fear -- to healing
DESCRIPTION:Central West End\nChild care provided\n\nMoving past fear – to healing\n\n  \nBy discovering the strong connection and relationship we have to something bigger than ourselves — God\, good\, we can learn to lean and rely on this greater\, higher good. This can move us to love beyond ourselves — and we are freed from fear and so much more. \n\nAbout Lisa Troseth\n\nLisa was in her late teens when God became more real to her as an infinitely loving presence. At the time\, she was struggling with tough relationship problems\, so she was wide open to seeking divine answers. She began to earnestly study Christian Science\, which she knew transformed lives because it had healed her mom of a bipolar disorder diagnosed as incurable. \n\n“As I really prayed and studied the Bible and Science and Health\, they awakened me to a larger view of life as being forever inseparable from divine Love. This freed me from the relationship issues\, healed me of a skin condition\, and changed my character for the better.”\n\nYearning to share God’s healing nature more with others\, Lisa took Christian Science Primary Class Instruction in 1994\, where she learned how prayer\, based on our unity with God\, consistently heals and brings solutions to our lives\, communities\, and world. Proving this has been at the heart of her life’s work\, whether serving in educational nonprofits\, working as a Christian Science nurse\, or serving in various church capacities\, including currently as a Christian Science lecturer. Lisa was an art major in college\, and has enjoyed living in many places throughout the United States. One of her favorite activities nowadays is hiking with her husband in the mountains of Northwest Arkansas. She has loved being in the full-time ministry of Christian Science healing since 2010\, and now as a 2021 graduate of Normal class. \n“It’s a joy to share the Science of Christ-healing through teaching.”\n\n\nLisa Troseth will give her talk at First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, St. Louis\, MO\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Can Prayer be Scientific?
DESCRIPTION:Kirkwood\nChild care provided \nCan Prayer be Scientific?\nwith Emra Farkas\nThe Science of Christianity challenges conventional views of prayer\, presenting it not as blind faith\, but as a scientific understanding of God’s ever-present love. Drawing from Jesus’ teachings in the Bible\, as well as personal experiences practicing Christian Science\, Emra illustrates how prayer can bring tangible healing and transformation. Prayer\, combined with a law-based approach to spirituality\, can be both practical and provable. \n______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nAbout Emra Farkas \nThe most important influences on Emra’s life were her mother\, who taught her to pray when confronted with difficulties\, and her Christian Science Sunday School. \n______________________________________________________________________ \nEmra Farkas will give her talk at\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Kirkwood\n415 N Clay Avenue\, Kirkwood MO 63122\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Giving Freely of Ourselves and What We All Gain
DESCRIPTION:Elsah\, Illinois\nEveryone is welcome. \nGiving Freely of Ourselves and What We All Gain\nwith Melanie Walhberg\nWhen we feel overwhelmed by life’s problems\, we may want to hide or give up. But when we do the opposite — give more of ourselves or focus on the God-given qualities we already have\, we find that those problems dissolve! Hear this Christian Science healer share her own experiences of progress — and how you can gain the joy\, health\, and strength that move our lives and the world forward. \n______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nAbout Melanie Walhberg \n \n\nTwo influences that Melanie will never forget were the Christian Science Sunday School and a mom who turned to prayer and encouraged her to do the same. These influences showed her something of the reliability of God and spiritual inspiration\, and trusting this helped her find her way growing up. Significant healing experiences with relationship and food issues\, and violence in the community\, were also unforgettable. From this\, Melanie got an idea of the many ways that Christian Science can transform lives. \nAfter finishing a doctorate in mathematics\, Melanie became a college professor and truly enjoyed teaching. She found that teaching was less about telling students something than facilitating the students’ discoveries of new concepts. There was nothing better than witnessing a reluctant student realize that a previously mystifying concept was actually within reach to anyone. \nBut the higher promise of Christian Science beckoned her to help people redeem and uplift their lives in a fuller way. When students came to her office for help with calculus\, Melanie and her students often found themselves talking about the joy and excitement of growing spirituality. After just two years at the college\, Melanie resigned from her position and began accepting calls as a Christian Science practitioner. She wrote articles for the Christian Science periodicals\, was a frequent guest on Sentinel radio\, and began advertising her practice in The Christian Science Journal in 2004. She and her husband also started a family. \nMelanie loves working from her home office in the Los Angeles area. She likes to see lives transformed by the healing ideas of Christian Science\, where we ourselves are helped and\, at the same time\, find we can help others. Her life as a mom has a lot of the same focus. And whether the spiritual ideas apply to health issues\, school\, social lives\, or sports\, her three kids push her to “keep it real.” \n\n______________________________________________________________________ \nMelanie Walhberg will give her talk at\nPrincipia Wanamaker Hall\, Elsah\n1 Maybeck Place\, Elsah\, IL\nEveryone is welcome.\nChildcare will be not be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: The Science of God and its Power to Heal Us
DESCRIPTION:Manchester\nChild care provided\nThe Science of God and its Power to Heal Us\nwith Nikki O’Hagan\n“Get up! Pick up your mat and walk” (John 5: 8 NIRV). \nChrist Jesus responded with scientific certainty to calls for healing. This Christian Science lecture is about his simple message of certain good. \nWhether you’re looking for answers or facing challenges\, come hear about experiencing God’s goodness — His presence and power. No background needed\, just honest life questions. \nAbout Nikki O’Hagan \n \nNikki grew up in South Africa where she gained a love for being outdoors and enjoying the beauty and promise of nature. From a young age she had a strong desire to not just experience life\, but to understand it. She used to exasperate her dad by following up every explanation he gave her by asking “but\, Why?” While Nikki did grow up attending Christian Science Sunday School\, as a teen she decided that this would not be the way for her to gain the understanding of life that she was seeking\, and she headed off in another direction.\n\nSeveral years followed in which she desperately tried to find happiness and to understand the Why of life. She looked everywhere and tried everything (even jumping out of an airplane!) but nothing brought answers\, happiness or lasting peace. Rather than finding an understanding of life\, it all seemed to just get darker and make less and less sense. \nAnd then a transformational healing brought her back to Christian Science\, where she found comfort\, peace\, mercy\, happiness\, harmony\, health\, and home in the arms of divine Love. Nikki then discovered that she loved the infallible logic of the Science of Christianity\, and found in it all the answers to her Whys. Life and God finally began to make sense and became full of joy\, light\, and love. Her gratitude for this pivotal healing\, and the salvation it brought her by setting her on the path of Christian Science\, was–and still is–unbounded. Since that time all she has wanted to do is love and serve God\, and love and serve others. \nThrough her study and practice of Christian Science\, Nikki has experienced and witnessed so many healings over the years. Her earnest desire is for all to know the transformational healing power of divine Love. Becoming a Christian Science practitioner was a natural step in fulfilling this desire. \nNikki looks forward to sharing with others\, through the lecturing work\, the subjects most precious and dear to her heart: God and Christian Science. \n\n\nNikki O’Hagan will give her talk at\nSchroeder Park Office Building\, Conference Area\nSchroeder Park 359 Old Meramec Station Road\nManchester\, Missouri\nChild care will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Valley Park\, MO

In her teens\, when a teacher asked her to speak to a social studies class about her religion\, she discovered the joy that comes from sharing what she understood and had experienced of Mary Baker Eddy’s discovery. She was asked back each year and was always moved by the way students who were skeptical about the subject became interested after hearing her accounts of spiritual healing — her healings of a severed thumb\, tonsillitis\, swimmer’s ear\, bullying\, and other difficulties. \nHowever\, during college and graduate school\, she drifted away from church. Her degrees were in fine arts\, and after school she worked for galleries and museums in New York City. Her interest in finding spiritual answers to life’s challenges was rekindled\, and she explored a variety of spiritual disciplines in search of answers. This hands-on study of comparative religion helped her understand the universality of the search for spiritual truth\, but left her with unanswered questions. \nShe and her husband moved to Taos\, New Mexico\, where she enjoyed a career in music performance and started a family. After some years of poor health\, a sudden spiritual insight led her back to Christian Science and to an instantaneous healing of multiple chronic illnesses. \nThis inspired a deeper study of Eddy’s writings. That study led her back to church\, to Christian Science class instruction\, and eventually to a ten-year intensive course of study. Shortly thereafter\, she became a full-time Christian Science practitioner. \nEmra says there is nothing more satisfying than seeing divine Truth and Love transform lives and bring healing. She feels deeply blessed to practice and teach Christian Science\, contribute to the Christian Science periodicals\, serve her branch church\, and serve as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. \n\nCaryl Emra Farkas will give her talk at the Church Edifice2989 Clarkson RoadChesterfield\, MO 63017\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.
