SUMMARY:A Talk for Teens: Why Everyone is Needed
DESCRIPTION:At Principia School\nin the Idea Center\nA Talk for Teens: Why Everyone is Needed\nwith James Shepherd\n \nWhat’s My Purpose?\nThis teen-focused talk explores what your purpose is and where your worth comes from. \nJames Shepherd shares real-life examples and explains how\, when you see yourself as God does\, healing and personal progress results. As James puts it: \n  \n\n“Each one of us is connected to God. No one is left out.”\n\n\n  \nAbout James Shepherd\nGod’s love is for everyone\, and a Christian Science talk especially for Teens is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings. \n\nJames has seen the healing effects of God’s love since he was a youngster\, romping through the woods around his home with his three brothers. They had their share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. On the rare occasions they felt sick\, they relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school his family moved to a ranch where they had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way he could serve others. He left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. Thirty years later\, he still loves this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, James has enjoyed being active in many roles in his local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and has worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. He has also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When his four children were little\, he coached their sports programs. He finds other ways to help his community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nJames loves spending time with his family and doing any outdoor activity. But his greatest joy will always be to find\, and to help others find\, a more tangible sense of God’s love for everyone and how that improves every aspect of our lives.” \n\nJames Shepherd will give his talk for Teens at\nPrincipia School in the Idea Center\n13201 Clayton Rd.\nSt. Louis\, MO 63131\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Creve Coeur\, MO

SUMMARY:Free Public Talk: Discover how prayer HEALS
DESCRIPTION:Wash U / Delmar\nChild care provided\n\nCome to a free talk on spiritual healing by Christian Science practitioner and international speaker Nate Frederick and … \nDiscover how prayer HEALS\nIf you have no experience with spirituality or religion\, or you’re not even sure what you think about God\, can you still pray and be healed? \nOur speaker\,  Nate Frederick\,  says  …\n\n“Yes. Because prayer and healing are natural to us\, and I say this as one who didn’t even grow up in a religious household. But what I’ve discovered as I’ve studied Christian Science is that a willingness to shift perspectives\, to see things in a new\, more spiritual way\, has an effect–for anyone.”\n\n\nNate continues …\n\nBut what I’ve discovered as I’ve studied Christian Science is that a willingness to shift perspectives\, to see things in a new\, more spiritual way\, has an effect—for anyone.\nLike in the case of an inmate I worked with. As I shared the basics of Christian Science with him\, he said it all sounded great but he was just a bad person. He seemed pretty convinced that healing wasn’t for him. But as we talked about the fact that he wasn’t defined by his past\, but by God\, his source\, who is completely good\, I could tell his thought about himself was changing. \nAnd then he wanted more. So he took a copy of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, back to his cell and started to dive into these books. Six or seven weeks later\, I ran into him again and he told me that he’d been healed of a serious illness —just from studying the Bible and Science and Health. His study helped him grasp God and his life in a new way and his disease was cured. \nIn my lecture\, I’ll share more about the fundamentals of effective prayer\, as I’ve learned from studying Christian Science\, as well as how healing is truly possible for everyone. \nAbout Nate Frederick\n \nNate is a practitioner of Christian Science healing and in his talk\, he will share more about the fundamentals of effective prayer\, as he has learned from studying Christian Science\, as well as how healing is truly possible for everyone. \nExperiencing first-hand the healing power of Love is Nate Frederick’s favorite thing.  It’s what makes him tick. Nate studied perennial religion at Hampshire College where he was introduced to Christian Science healing.  Although he was enamored with the academic exploration of spirituality\, what he truly desired most was to practice spirituality in a tangible way — he wanted to experience God and heal others. \nAfter traveling and hiking extensively in the Himalayas\, Nate came to Boston in 2008 to work for the headquarters of the Christian Science church\, in Boston.  Since then\, he has served in many capacities\, including launching and producing spiritual and musical podcasts. Nate has shared the Christian Science at jails\, rehab centers and interfaith events.  He’s also been widely involved in composing\, producing and performing music. \nTo sum it all up\, Nate affirms:\n\n“Without comparison\, my greatest love\, my greatest joy— my mission — is to transform lives and heal the sick through Christianly Scientific prayer.”\n\n\nNate Frederick will give his talk at\nUniversity City Public Library\nChildcare will be provided.\nSee all information on the right side bar.\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Creve Couer\, MO
